Granny's Place
The cottage found the silence unsettling. “Where is Granny?” it thought. It had grown used to the background music of her flickering candles, bubbling cauldrons, and muttered cackling.
Okay, so it was mostly stew that bubbled in the soup pot, and Granny didn’t so much cackle as she was just highly amused by her own jokes, but there IS such a thing as atmosphere.
The cottage remembered when Granny moved in, with her bags of strange herbs, her many many odd utensils, and her peculiar rocks. It was just a simple cottage then, but she brought it to life with her folksy magic. It prided itself on well maintained cobwebs, just the right amount of jars, and colorful crockery clutter.
“I hope she’s okay”, the cottage thought, “I hope she’s not in trouble.” The cottage decided then and there that it would keep her secrets safe and her hearth fire lit and would not rest until Granny was back, safe and sound, within its walls. “Perhaps I’ll ask the mice.”
Now, any witch worth her salt has a few friendly mice. Who else will keep the crumbs cleaned up in case company comes? But these particular mice, from this particular cottage, nestled at the base of a rocky Ozark mountain covered with ancient oaks, were special.
Off they scurried through the woods to meet...
Mossy Bloke
Lives behind granny's place, back in the Too Deep. Wears camo, including a gilly suit hat and carrying lots of bags and packs. He doesn't know where Granny is, but desperately needs to find her because he's completely out of Granny's special Cider.
